If you’ve always wanted to know how designers make their clients’ bedrooms look so positively irresistible, the truth is that the magic lies in the bedding. In most cases, the bed is your focal point and a fabulously made bed can make the whole room appear updated and beautiful!
Layering with a Coverlet and Duvet
Layering a bed adds comfort and helps define the style of the bedroom. By the way, designers get that full bedding look by using a high fill down duvet with decorative covers. You can add a coverlet to the foot of your bed for added color and pattern or use it underneath your duvet as a base layer.

TIP: First, fold the duvet about halfway down the length of the bed and follow by folding the flat sheet and coverlet about one-quarter of the way. Lean two or three large Euro shams upright against the headboard. Place your sleeping pillows either behind or in front of the shams and layer 2-3 decorative pillows in front.
Shams and Decorative pillows
Decorative pillows are arguably one of the most effective parts of dressing your bed. They are a great way of adding colour, texture and that designer touch to your bedroom. For the full effect, layer large euro shams behind your pillow to introduce further style and sophistication, with smaller pillows placed in front of your pillows.

Throws
Create effortless style by draping a throw blanket over the end of your bed. Whether you love a lightweight knitted blanket, would like to add a bit of pattern or you’re looking for a heavier bedspread, a throw will add an abundance of character or color.
The master bedroom’s bedding design is often the first thing that the eye sees when crossing the threshold of the room. Not only does it have the ability to set the tone for the room, but depending on the fabrics you choose, it also helps determine the comfort level of your bed.
Small details like a button, piped edges or metallic foiling can add that extra layer of sophistication to bed styling. For those wanting to create a bit of drama, bedding is a great way to introduce pattern and color into a bedroom. It’s not as permanent as a wall color or upholstery so it’s easy to change—season to season, year to year—giving your room a different look each time.
